The world was still witnessing international or non-international armed conflicts with devastating effects on the factors of human survival, like the environment with its various elements, where resorting to the use of combat methods whose effects are very dangerous on the environment in order to achieve military objectives, and what helped this is the terrible development in the field of armament, manufacture of weapons and methods of combat, which prompted the international community to try to address these violations on the environment and prevent them by incorporating provisions and principles into the law.

the international humanitarian law aims to protect the environment in these circumstances, since it is one of the branches of international law related to regulating the state of war and restricting the freedom of its parties to choose fighting techniques that cause human rights violations, including the right to live in a healthy environment.
