The research included exposure to the study of formal theory and its applications in abstract sculpture, since the adoption of this type of sculpture as a basis in its work.

the research came in four chapters, the first of which included the general framework of the research starting with the problem of research, its importance, its purpose and its extended limits from 1931 to 1953, and then defining and defining the most important terms in it.

the second chapter included the theoretical framework of the research, which included two sections, the first came under the title of the concept of formal theory, the second topic included the technical and intellectual reflection of formality in abstract sculpture.

from the theoretical reading in the two sections, the researcher came out with a set of indicators in the analysis of the research sample.

the third chapter included the research procedures based on the research methodology in which the researcher adopted descriptive analytical method to analyze the sample content derived from the research community, which included a collection of works that the researcher learned from the relevant sources and the internet to pick a sample representing the research society), in an intentional manner reached (5) sculptural works, which adopted the researcher theoretical framework indicators and observation tool as a tool to analyze the sample content.

the fourth chapter included the most important findings of the researcher and the conclusions that came out of the most important results : 1-the center of formal discourse in sculptural achievements is (man), which represents the basic value in the work of art and this applies to all sample models.

2-in the aesthetic dimension, the shape of the relationship between mass and space took shape.

the structure of the sculptural form is in the structural argument between the mass and its spaces, as is shown in figs.

(1), (2), (3) and (5).
