This research paper is about focus groups in its attempt to approach virtual spaces empirically and epistemologically; in order to study the social interactions that operate within them.

we Focused primarily on the concept of focus groups discussingtheir most important characteristics as well as their types.

The paper also tries to clarify the understanding of the focus groups for new media and communication; as well as the specificity of the methodological and procedural designof this tool within the virtual spaces.

In the end we discussed about the most important advantages and limits that the researcher should be aware of when using this tool.
