Chlorhexidine is one of the most important antibacterial drugs, and it is the first active ingredient in the international market, especially gargles, since it destroys bacterial plaque which causes dental caries, gingivitis and bad breath, where it decreases the bacterial carry in the oral cavity to its lowest levels .with common use of oral gargles, it has been noticed that its use for a long period after opening the container, without considering not conserving the active ingredient in the same concentration and activity along the period of use, in addition the producing companies don’t consider the constitutional standards of packaging terms, away from light and heat, so this study termed to monitor the concentration and activity of Chlorhexidine in some local gargles, starting from the opening moment till two months with weekly intervals .HPLC method has been used to monitor the concentration, at the same time the activity has been monitored with biological method, and the results of both methods were compared and it was obvious analytically and biologically that concentrations and activity are in decreasing but not at the same level.
