Abstract EN

The fatty oil of Portulaca oleracea leaves was extracted.

The samples were collected from three areas in Syria (Daraa, Damascus and Homs) and from the wild and cultivated plants.

The Results showed that there were significant differences in the levels of total fatty acids of samples at 95%.

Fat content of analyzed samples varied from 3.21 to 5.39 grams per 100 grams of dry matter.

The results of fatty acids analysis by gas chromatography (GC) showed that leaves oil contain 11 fatty acids C14:0, C16:0, C16:1, C17:0, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C18:3, C20:0, C20:1 and one is located in a Non-detect group (ND) is believed to be a Omega-3, and The Linolenic acid (C18:3) was the predominate fatty acid in all samples.
