Abstract EN

The Corona pandemic imposed new economic conditions in all countries of the world, some of which were disincentive to the most important daily economic activities for all citizens around the world, and some of them represented challenges for governments in order to move forward in promoting the most important economic programs supporting technology.

Tangible financial transactions, the most important of which is paper money in the daily activity of citizens, is one of the sources of transmission of Corona virus infection, which has put the central banks in the world in front of a great challenge, which is how to find alternative channels that enhance the daily economic activity of citizens and enjoy acceptance and safety at the same time.

Therefore, the approach has been directed towards non-contact financial transactions (electronic payment channels) in light of the environment of financial inclusion that the world intends to achieve well.

The research hypothesis is that the increasing ferocity of the Corona virus increases the severity of the electronic challenges and the digital gap in developing economies generally and Iraq in particularly.

This generates individual convictions of the futility of electronic financial transfer under the decline in financial awareness among the public.

The research problem is that the physical use of money in settling financial transactions for the activities of citizens increases the risk of spreading the Corona virus in developing countries under the retreat of preventive measures from this source.

The importance of the research in that it sheds light on the most important challenges posed by the Corona pandemic to the Central Bank of Iraq in accelerating steps of financial inclusion and safe digitization throughout the Iraqi provinces, as a means of support for sustainable economic development plans that have faced great challenges in the health and educational sector in Iraq.

The research concluded that Iraq, under the Corona pandemic, faces subjective challenges in the convictions of citizens under the weak financial awareness in order to narrow the digital gap, and objective challenges related to the financial institutional systems and the quality of the infrastructure needed to support financial inclusion and the transition to contactless financial dealings, in order to reduce the risks of spread Coronavirus.

The research recommended that more efforts and institutional support be made at the local and global level in Iraq, in order to properly adopt electronic settlements, in the context of confronting Corona virus and supporting sustainable economic development plans.
