Abstract EN

This study presents the rules put together by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, in terms of theory and application, to respond to the illusion of contradiction between the hadiths.

specifically, this study focuses on the hadiths of Taharah and presents the four rules followed by the Sheikh to deal with the contradiction between the hadiths, which are combining, abrogating, weighting, and undetermined.

I started by defining each rule, then I mentioned the Sheikh’s definition for each rule, then I followed it up with practical examples, which I commented on briefly.

the study concluded that the Sheikh took a great care of the science of hadith in terms of theory and application with his expansion in the terminology of the contradiction.

specifically, he included alMukhtalaf and alMushkil and followed the approach of the majority of imams by presenting eight ways for combining, one strict way for abrogating, two ways for weighting, and no elaboration on the undetermined.

finally, the Sheikh mentioned the kinds of contradictions in the hadiths, some of which contradict a Quranic verse, a hadith, or a rule of Sharia.

future research can focus on conducting a theoretical and applied studies to combine the efforts of the imams in responding to the illusion of contradiction between the hadiths of the prophet, especially those who are interested in jurisprudence and Hadith.
