English Abstract

The maritime activity in the Red Sea suffered from deterioration and lethargy for quite a few periods due to the dangers that were surrounding it and that obstructed navigation through it beside the transfer of the Abbasids, especially in their first era, the activity gradually to the Arabian Gulf, so the ports located on it flourished, and the ports of this Gulf, which are Seraph, Basra and Abla, replaced the Parma ports And the Qilam in the reception of the ships of the Far East, and then returned to the Red Sea, its first importance in the late third century AH and early fourth century AH and reached the height of its glory in the era of the Fatimid and Ayyubid dynasties, the natural phenomenon despite it being an act outside the will of man, that is, man has no hand in its achievement or its occurrence and may be performed To the occurrence of human and economic losses, but these phenomena did not stand in the way of the will of states, seafarers, scientists and travelers, so they defied difficulties and rode the sea as travelers, merchants and roving travelers, that the Arabs had a prominent role in the manufacture of ships and from ancient times, the problems of ships and their manufacture, the multiplicity of their uses and their purposes, especially what was made of them specifically to suit The nature of the Red Sea with its harsh geography as it affected the shipbuilding industry, commercial activity and the naval battles that the Red Sea was They released them, as well as Hajj and Umrah trips and other trips, but the effect reached such an extent that the maritime activity trips were linked to a group of customs and traditions Despite the dangers of these phenomena, Muslims and others rode this sea and their activity increased in it and became an Islamic lake, and these innovations left their mark in the progress of the art of navigation.

And the maritime activity among the Arabs, in order to facilitate the process of converting ships in the seas, day and night, so Muslims stormed the sea and waded its voyages and humiliated their fleets, and this reflects that the conscious management with vision and thought can fight difficulties and cross to future horizons according to prepared plans and clear visions.

The maritime activity in the Red Sea suffered from deterioration and lethargy for quite a few periods due to the dangers that were surrounding it, which interfered with navigation through it, in addition to what the Abbasids did, especially in their first era, to gradually transfer the navigation activity to the Arabian Gulf, so the ports located on it flourished, and the ports of this Gulf were dissolved., Namely: Seraph, Basra, and Abla, the place of Minai: Al-Farma and Al-Qulzum in the reception of the Far Eastern ships, then returned to the Red Sea, its first importance in the late third century AH and early fourth century AH, and reached the height of its glory in the era of the Fatimid and Ayyubid dynasties.

The study proved that the natural phenomenon, although it is an act outside the will of man, meaning that man has no hand in its accomplishment or its occurrence, and may lead to human and economic losses.

However, these phenomena did not hinder the will of states, navigators, scientists and travelers, so they defied the difficulties, and rode the sea as travelers and traffickers And itinerants, to prove to everyone in their age and the era of those who came after them that disability is the powerlessness of the will, and that man is able by his will to subjugate nature, including the threats and risks it contains, to serve him and achieve his goals, and that success depends on running through difficulties, challenging oneself and the strength of determination and will.

Through the study, it was found that the Arabs had a prominent role in the manufacture of ships, and since ancient times, ships and their manufacture and the multiplicity of their uses and purposes, especially those that were specially made of them to suit the nature of the Red Sea, were an important part of the civilized history of the Islamic Arab state, and Muslims excelled in the manufacture and use of ships even They mastered their shapes and types, and gave many names to the different types of ships, and wood was the primary material used in shipbuilding, especially teak or coconut wood, due to its solidity and resistance to sea water, despite its long stay in it with its ability to withstand conditions Extreme weather and climate, they achieved uniqueness, distinction and creativity in this industry.
