Abstract EN

This study explains the concept of “the other” in the culture and thought of western societies, and the ensuing beliefs and mechanisms for dealing with this other; which has become well-established and rooted in the western conscience; such as: egocentrism, western ego, arrogance, fear of the other.

in the introduction, I dealt with: the reasons for choosing the topic, a brief summary of it, the research methodology, and its contents; briefly.

the first chapter came to study the western self-centeredness, the attempt to alienate the other, and the denial and contempt of cultures, ideas and civilizations marked with non-western epithets, and an explanation of the reasons for this, with the rooting of the west's subjectivity and its centrality with ethnic distinction.

it also dealt in the second chapter: the continuity of the “ego” in the west and its historical authenticity, with the strong love for that ego and adherence to its demands, and the continuous attempts throughout western history (both old and new) to belittle others; detracting from their intellectual, cultural and philosophical products; rather, distorting it in many of its aspects, especially what is related to Islam and Muslims, with an explanation of the extent of the philosophical influence on the west in forming its system of “I and the other.” then the research concluded with the most important findings, as well as the most important recommendations and suggestions, in addition to the lists of references and topics.
