The current research aims to evaluate the content of the social studies book for the intermediate stage according of the levels of cognitive depth .

The research community and its sample consisted of two social books for the first and second intermediate classes of the academic year (2020-2021).

To achieve the goal of the research, The researcher used the descriptive analytical methods it is suitable with the nature of the study , the content of the two books was analyzed in the light of the levels of cognitive depth determined by the researcher, based on previous studies and literature, Then it was presented to a group of experts and arbitrators in measurement , evaluation curricula and methods of teaching geography and history, in order to verify the validity of the tool, and determine its final formula, which included (4)levels and (32) indicators.

The stability of the tool was calculated using the (Holstey) equation by re-analysis with a time difference between the first second analysis, and by agreement between the researcher and external.

The researcher relied on frequencies and percentages in obtaining the final results, which are as follows: 1.

The social book for the first intermediate grade got (1282) repetitions distributed over its content, where The percentages of each level of knowledge depth was in the follows order , it was the level of knowledge and reproduction (42,59), and application of concepts and skills (31,12), strategic thinking (16,15 ), and extended thinking(10.14).

The social book for the second intermediate grade got (1544) repetitions distributed over its content, where The percentages of each level of knowledge depth was in the follows order , it was the level of knowledge and reproduction (38,60), and application of concepts and skills (27,98), strategic thinking (22,02), and extended thinking(11,40).

when comparing the results with the expected spoken ratios, they achieved the two social books for the intermediate stage with good rates on two levels (knowledge and reproduction, strategic thinking) and did not achieve the required percentages in the level of extended thinking.

As for the level of application of concepts and skills ,it achieved the required percentage for the social book for the first intermediate grade , and did not achieve the same percentages for the social book for the second intermediate grade.

In light of the above results, the researcher reached some conclusions and recommendations and came up with suggestions for other studies.
