Abstract EN

The present study aims to introduce a reading for the classists and modernist perceptions of exclamation in Arabic, showing the sentence pattern where it belongs, through surveying all sayings of the classical heritage starting from al-Khalil, Sibawayh and other grammarians who tackled this style in their books.

After introducing the classical perceptions of the heritage, the study seeks to investigate the views of ancient grammarians and show the attitude of modernist Arab linguists towards such views.

It also seeks to get acquainted with their books related to exclamation, based on the linguistic theories from which their books emerged, which in turn employed descriptive pragmatic and performative linguistic theories which have all approached exclamation as being a sentence pattern used in Arabic language.
