Abstract EN

The current research seeks to identify the urban expansion in agricultural lands within cities (effects and causes).

A questionnaire consisting of (10) paragraphs in two domains related to the dimensions of the subject, and after verifying the statistical characteristics of the questionnaire in terms of validity and reliability, it was applied to the research sample.

The study concluded the following: 1.

Urban expansion threatens agricultural life in any country and leads to a serious problem related to the ecological balance in the remote township.

2.

There are a number of reasons that lead to this phenomenon, the most important of which are the economic and social reasons, as well as the weakness of the state in protecting its agricultural areas.

3.

Unplanned urban expansion leads to the extinction and desertification of agricultural areas in the country and thus leads to a decrease in agricultural production and an increase in demand for agricultural crops from outside the country.

4.

Municipalities have an influential role - absent at the present time - to reduce this phenomenon by preventing the issuance of building permits at the expense of green agricultural areas.

5.

There are alternative ways to address this phenomenon, the most important of which is vertical construction, as well as building in rugged areas that are not suitable for agriculture and transforming their gender into residential areas.
