Abstract EN

The research traces the stages of the development of British influence in the Gulf, and how it was able to neutralize local forces to the extent that make the Gulf became a British region.

The British began to crowd out the Portuguese and they strengthened their influence at the expense of the Portuguese and the rest of the European authorities, and their influence increased after understandings with the sheikhs and emirates of the Gulf, Britain began to conclude bilateral treaties with the sheikhs and emirates of the Gulf.

Also, the research discusses the discovery of oil in the Gulf and its impact on Gulf-British relations.

The researcher used the historical method, which depends on the analysis of the available sources.

The research aimed to illuminate a critical Stage in the history of the region, whose effects Still exist today.

The researcher reached some results which include, commercial nature prevails of the British presence in the Arabian Gulf, the British policy in the Gulf controls the sheikhs and emirates of the Gulf through the conclusion of permanent agreements, Britain becomes able to impose its full influence after the treaties of 1820 AD on the Arab Gulf region.
