Abstract EN

The study aimed at the gains and risks of traditional mining in Sudan as an analytical study to know the harms and effects of practicing that profession represented in the economic, social, security and environmental aspects on the miners themselves and on the scene of mining operations themselves, as well as the future financials of that profession on Sudan and its security and stability.

The study used a number of overlapping approaches such as the regional and descriptive analytical approach and the evolutionary approach.

The study also used the discussion groups (focus groups), and the primary used the published and unpublished sources with the miners themselves.

The study concluded with a number of results that combine several economic, social, environmental and security factors that contributed, to varying degrees, to the risks being greater than the gains.

It is related to traditional mining in Sudan.

Also, the harms and risks of traditional mining in Sudan are greater than the gains, especially in the future, as a right to sustainable development for future generations in the gold resource itself.

Therefore, the study recommends a number of recommendations that would stop the economic, social, security and environmental waste, such as the governance of the traditional mining sector in terms of occupational safety and following Environmental guidelines in mining areas to ensure the security, safety and well-being of human beings.
