Abstract EN

This study entitled "Saltine Pasha and his role in ending the Mahdist state".

The study aimed to find out the ways and means taken by the Saltine Pasha to end the Mahdist state.

The study included nine axes, the first axis: his biography and the second axis: his previous practical experiences.

The third axis: deals withthe announcement of his falseconversion to Islam and the expulsion of his deputy, Mohammed Khalid Zakl.

The fourth axis: handing over Darfur administration to Al ansar.

The fifth axis: deals with the services he gave to Mahdiawhile the sixth axis: deals with the arrest of Saltine Pasha and his escape from captivity.

The seventh axis: deals with the incitement of Saltine Pasha to Egyptian and European public opinion to invade and restore Sudan .The eighth axis: his alliance with Queen Victoria against the Caliph Abdullah, and finally, the ninth axis: which deals with Saltine Pasha and defeats the Almahdi supporters in karari and Umm Debikrat.

The study followed the descriptive and analytical approach which based on information collection, analysis, ordering and formulation.

The study found that the Saltine Pasha had a prominent role in ending the Mahdist state by inciting the European public opinion against Mahdia and revealing all the military information of Mahdia in preparation for the invasion.

The researcher recommends that researchers should pay attention to the study of Islamic history in general and the history of Sudan in particular.
