Abstract EN

The current study aims to identify the effect of the picture reading strategy on developing written expression skills for fifth scientific grade students.

Al-Quds Preparatory School for Boys, which is affiliated with the Directorate of Education in Baghdad, Karkh First.

The school was chosen by the intentional method, and the two research samples (experimental and control) were appointed by random drawing method, where Division (B) represented the experimental group, whose number of students reached (34) students, and the Division (A) They were studied using the image-reading strategy, the control group, and the number of their students was (34), who were studied in the traditional way.

The researcher rewarded the two groups in the variables (intelligence, chronological age calculated in months, pre-test).

The research studied the two research groups by himself, in order to avoid affecting the course of the experiment.

The research tool represented a test that measured written expression skills.

The researcher adopted the test (Abu Sharkh, 2018) and adapted it to the Iraqi environment and the school stage.

Research in developing written expression skills, the researcher used the statistical package (SPSS) program to analyze the data obtained from the experiment, using the following statistical methods: (T-test for two independent, correlated samples, and Pearson correlation coefficient), to reach the results of the research, which showed that there are differences In the arithmetic mean is positive in favor of the experimental group, The researcher concluded, through the results of the research, that the reason for the superiority of the experimental group is due to the application of the picture reading strategy, and its use in developing written expression skills, because it is one of the modern strategies, which makes the learner the focus of the educational process, and the interaction of students with the steps of the strategy.
