Abstract EN

Sudan is a cumulative cultural and historical entity that has seen the horizon since times immemorial.

the Sudanese state as a political institution and legal authority did set foot four thousand years ago (kingdom of Kerma 2500- 1500 b.c.).

the Sudanese national identity clearly crystallized during the second kingdom of Kush (900 b.c.–350 a.d.).

since then up to the advent of independence (1st.

January 1956) and the present- day Sudan has witnessed important political, economic, social and cultural changes.

however, the question of national identity has always become inevitable issue for the successive regimes ruling Sudan.

the national identity of Sudan is a derivative of two main sources : the Arab-Islamic one and its African counterpart (Sudanism).

the present article argues on the basis of Archaeo-historical evidence that “Sudanese” being the most prominent characteristic for the Sudanese national identity in the incidents of 19th December 2018 revolution.
