Abstract EN

The study deals with the efforts of King Abdul Aziz in repairing the Hejaz railway extending from Damascus to medina, since 1344 ah / 1926 ad, after he succeeded in annexing the Hejaz to his rule, as the study aims to re-operate the Hejaz railways with two holy cities : mecca and medina.

and the political, administrative, and technical situation of the railway, especially that its route penetrates many neighboring countries, which are governed by the British and French colonial governments, with the varying size of the faults along the railway.

however, the most affected part is the part located within the borders of the Saudi government.

from this point of view, King Abdul Aziz’s efforts to restart it began by debating with the relevant British and French governments, through a long series of telegrams, correspondences, and international and local conferences.

with the aim of reaching an appropriate mechanism for its operation and agreement on its management and ownership.

the study gained its importance in addressing an issue of cultural and religious value for the most important Islamic sanctities in Makkah al-Mukarramah and al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, and securing access to them by the easiest means of transportation available at the time, namely the Hejaz railway, and the topic that most of the previous studies discussed in the period of ottoman and Hashemite rule.

however, this study came to complete what the previous studies stopped by, by studying the efforts of King Abdulaziz in reforming the Hejaz
