Abstract EN

The present research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a training program based on artistic activities on reducing symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children with mild intellectual handicap.

Sample consisted of (14) children with mild intellectual handicap referred from School of Intellectual Education, Mansoura City in Dakahlia Governorate divided into two equivalent groups: Experimental and control.

Study instruments implied a Scale of symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Radi, 2012) and a training program based on artistic activities for reducing symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children with mild intellectual handicap (prepared by the researcher).

Results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the experimental and control groups in the post test on the Scale of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in favor of the control group.

Results also revealed statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the pre and post tests on the Scale of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in favor of the pretest.

Whereas results revealed no statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the post and follow up test on the Scale of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Results showed high effect size of the training program based on artistic activities on reducing symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder of the experimental group as well.

The researcher recommended using the artistic activities program used in the present research for reducing symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children with mild intellectual handicap.
