Abstract EN

This research dealt with the role of the Christian missionaries and its involvement in the conflict in South Sudan, and the deepening of the conflict between the North and South. The period of Turkish – Egyptian rule in the Sudan 1820 – 1885 was a prelude to the entry of a number of Europeans, Turkish, Egyptians communities to the Sudan.

The missionaries considered that Mohamed Ali Pasha’s conquest of Sudan was a milestone in the history of Christianity in Sudan.

In the era of the Anglo – Egyptian (Condominium) rule, the government was initially reluctant to allow missionaries to operate in Sudan for fear of provoking religious feelings among Muslims, and re experience the Mahadist.

However, the government soon relented to the pressures of the international missionary organizations, and allowed the missionaries to start their work in the Country, especially in the South where priests and missionaries found a suitable environment to do their job.

The missionaries took over the provision of education, health and social services, food and clothing to the southerners.

These missionaries Charged the Souls of Southerners with hatred and antagonism towards the Northerners and they have honed that hatred through years of practice.

General Ibrhaim Abboud, the political leader of the Sudan, nationalized missionary schools in the South, and subsidized Muslim educational institutions and mosques in process of the national sovereignty.

The missionaries protested against the Sudan government decision, this led the government to suspend the activities of these missionaries and expelled the priests.

The reaction of the international missionary organizations was very tough towards this decision.

In 2011 after decades of Civil War and the loss of more than two million lives, South Sudan separated from the North, and became independent country as the outcome of these missionaries activities.
