Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the impact of the occupation and the lack of funding on orphanages in occupied Jerusalem from the point of view of workers in orphanages, in order to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was prepared consisting of two sides, the first related to the occupation, and the second related to funding , and the questionnaire was distributed among a survey sample consisting of (80) workers in orphanages within the separation wall in occupied Jerusalem, during the first half of 2020.

The study revealed the following results: There are statistically significant differences in the impact of the occupation on orphanages in occupied Jerusalem from the viewpoint of workers in that shelters, to a very large degree, negatively, related to the movement of orphans and workers from and to orphanages, and interference in the public policy of the orphanage.

And forcing very difficult conditions regarding to any additions to the existing buildings, to put up barriers to prevent movement except with permission from the occupier, and to blatantly interfere with the educational curriculum used in the educational process.

The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences in the impact of poor funding on orphanages in Jerusalem from the point of view of workers in those homes, to a large degree, and negatively as well, with regard to low salaries for workers and lack of incentives and rewards for workers, and medium to low-level health, education and shelter services.
