Before the issuance of the new Law No.

(6) of 2021 relating to the system of elections to the Shura Council, the previous law emphasized that the right to candidacy is guaranteed to everyone whose original nationality was the nationality of the State of Qatar, and no one may nominate himself in more than one electoral district.

The candidacy shall be submitted to one of the committees referred to in the following article, at least four days before the start of the elections.

Whereas, the new law stipulated that the voter who has the right to elect members of the Shura Council must have a Qatari nationality and have completed 18 Gregorian years.

Anyone who has acquired Qatari nationality is excluded from the condition of original nationality, provided that his grandfather is Qatari and born in the State of Qatar.

While the law stipulates for those who can run for themselves that their "original nationality is Qatari, and his age at the closing of the candidacy door is not less than 30 Gregorian years, and that he is fluent in the Arabic language in writing and reading, and that he is registered in the electoral district in which he wants to run, and that he has not been convicted of a crime Violation of honesty and honor, and finally to be Mahmoud biography and behavior.
