Abstract EN

This descriptive study dealt with the mental tendency towards Basra, and its importance is due to knowing the reasons for this tendency and knowing its factors that made Basra scholars logic scholars and their advantage over the scholars of Kufa.

and the researcher presented an extrapolation of the scientific method that the Basra scholars followed in establishing the rule and how to collect the linguistic material; to illustrate the mental tendency through it.

finally, this study revealed that the grammarians of Basra realized at an early stage that the Arabic language is a mental science based on the ideas of constants and variables, and that Basra was distinguished by its commitment to logical standards in deriving grammatical rulings.
