Participatory democracy represents one of the most important mechanisms through which work is carried out to ensure the participation of citizens in the public decision-making process.

It is among the most effective entrances to achieving civic participation in public policies, achieving development in its territorial and central dimension and improving the work of local public utilities.

The citizen's participation in the public decision-making process and in the field of public policies is considered the main entry point for ensuring the positive involvement of citizens in managing public affairs, and it constitutes an important mechanism for evaluating public policies at the national and local levels, and for popular and societal control over decisionmakers, thus achieving sustainable development.
