Abstract EN

This article investigates the status of libraries in Moroccan schools.

It aims at comparing the perspective of official documents to reality, by focusing on the case study of the Moulay Rasheed / Sidi Othman directorate.

The article utilizes a content analysis tool to examine eight official documents which reflect the ministry's view of the school libraries and compare them to the reality in the context of the Directorate of Moulay Rashid / Sidi Othman in the Regional Academy of Casablanca / Settat.

The findings of this study show that there is a lack of consistency of the organizational framework of the school libraries with educational developments.

It reveals not only that the status of libraries is marginalized in the official documents in terms of vision, planning, and implementation, but also it shows the lack of human resources and the absence of school libraries in more than half of schools as well.

Therefore, this study calls for the reconsideration of the status and roles of libraries in Moroccan schools in the light of digital revolution and the adoption of distance learning.
