English Abstract

The current research aimed at: 1- identifying the level Empathy of the students of preparatory stage in City of Mosul 2- aimed at identify differences in the level of Empathy according to the variables, (gender, branch, class, geographical location 3- aimed at identify the level of social support among students of preparatory stage in City of Mosul.

4- aimed at identify the differences in the level of social support among students of preparatory stage according to the variables (gender, branch, class, geographical location) 5- aimed at identify the correlation between Empathy and social support 6- aimed at identify the correlation between the areas of Empathy and areas of social support for the research sample.

The main sample is made up of (1204) male and female students from the students of preparatory stage in the city of Mosul on its sides (left and right), as they were chosen in a random, class way from (24) schools distributed on both sides of the city of Mosul, and at a rate (5%) of the size of the community, and to achieve the research objectives The researcher applied two tools: the Empathy scale prepared by Davis (1980), So the scale has been translated by a group of translators who specialize in the English language and specialize in the Arabic language And the scale of social support built by the researcher, And the two procedures were verified by the researcher's reliance on (sincerity of translation, apparent honesty, self-truthfulness, and construction sincerity) , and for stability, it was calculated in two ways: (retest, internal consistency using the Alpha Cronbach equation) After the two tools were applied After applying the two tools, The results were extracted using statistical means including the Pearson correlation coefficient / T-test for one sample / T-test for two independent samples / Z-test.

The research came out with a set of results, including: - The most important results showed the following:- 1 - The research sample has Empathy in general.

2 - The research sample has social support in general.

3 - There is a positive, statistically significant correlation between Empathy and social support among students of preparatory stage.

4 - There is a statistically positive correlational relationship between the areas of Empathy and areas of social support among students of preparatory stage.

The researche recommended activating the role of educational counselors and teachers with students.
