Abstract EN

The research aims at examining Religious consciousness and its Relationship to the Social Conformity of the Students at the department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education/College of Education for Humanities.

The research sample consisted of 160 female and male students; 80 second year students and 80 fourth class students at the department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education.

These students were randomly chosen .

To achieve the aim of the research, the researcher prepared two instruments.

The first instrument is the scale of religious consciousness which includes 30 items followed by 5 alternatives(Always, Often, Sometimes, Little, Rarely).

The second instrument is the scale of social conformity which includes 25 items followed by 3 alternatives (Yes, Sometimes, Never).

The research verified the validity and the reliability of the two instruments.

The two instruments were distributed to the members of the major sample and they were statistically analyzed by using a number of statistical means to achieve the aims of the research.

The following results were obtained: 1.

The level of religious consciousness of the students at the department of Qur’anic Sciences was generally positive.

2.

The level of social conformity of the students at the department of Qur’anic Sciences was generally positive.

3.

There is an associative relationship between the religious consciousness and the social conformity according to the variable of the academic stage in favor of the fourth- class students.

4.

There is an associative relationship between the religious consciousness and the social conformity according to the variable of gender.

The researcher arrived at a number of recommendations and suggestions.
