Abstract EN

This research aims to know the emergence of the Arabic novel, its stages of development and positions, the critics ’attitudes towards its preference over poetry in this era, and the problems of not being adopted in the public education curricula and university study plans.

The research adopted the historical and descriptive-analytical method.

It contained an introduction, background, two themes, and a conclusion.

The findings revealed that some critics prefer poetry over the novel in this era.

Others prefer the novel over poetry, and other genres represent the time’s spirit.

Suppose the Arabic novel is written in the classical language.

In that case, it will be understood in all Arab environments.

Its spread and influence will increase, and the chances of its adoption in Arab education curricula as well as plans will be enhanced.

In addition, the educational problems of the novel lie in its colloquial language, its bold themes, its weakness in the artistic and aesthetic aspects, and its distance from the media and technology.

Moreover, the strong presence of the novel in education can only be achieved by seeking help from educational institutions and experts specialized in developing education, its programs and curricula according to the needs of society
