Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the role of social support in predicting social anxiety and smartphone addiction among secondary school students in Madinah.

And to measure the variables of the study, the social support scale was used (prepared by: Amani Abdel-Maqsoud and Asma El-Sirsi, 2001, rationing: Fahd El-Fahmy, 2019), the social anxiety scale (prepared by Magdy El-Desouky, 2003; codification by Dania Dehlawi, 2010), and the smartphone addiction scale (prepared by: researcher), The results of the current study indicate: There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the study sample of secondary school students in Medina in social support and its hypothetical average, and that the level of social support among adolescents was about the average level.

There are statistically significant differences between the averages of the study sample of secondary school students in Medina in social anxiety and its hypothetical average, and that the level of its prevalence is average among the adolescents.

There are statistically significant differences between the averages of the study sample of secondary school students in Madinah in the addiction to smartphones and its hypothetical average, and that the level of smartphone addiction is moderately prevalent among adolescents.

Social support can predict social anxiety in all dimensions and predict smartphone addiction in two dimensions: peer support and self-satisfaction with support, while the family support dimension cannot predict smartphone addiction among secondary school students in Medina.
