Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the level of tourism awareness among the residents of Medina, and to shed light on the factors that affecting it.

The field study relied upon the collection of primary data by designing a questionnaire.

Due to the large sample size, the Richard Geiger equation was used, accordingly, the sample size was (384), and questionnaires were distributed in a random way.

The results of this study showed that there is a moderate level of tourism awareness among the residents of Medina towards the importance of tourism, as well as its economic, social, environmental, and cultural importance and the availability of the basic tourism services.

The results also revealed that the variables of nationality, educational level, average monthly income and the work sector have an impact on the level of awareness among the residents of Medina.

The study came up with a number of recommendations, including strengthening and activating the role of different media means in tourism, establishing programs to educate and elevate local society awareness about tourism, and activate the role of private sector in promoting and improving the level of services offered to the tourists and the tourism sector.
