The importance of students' immersion in academic and social activities has long been recognized as a critical factor in students' success and excellence, but little is known about students' academic immersion patterns, as little attention has been paid to factors related to students' academic immersion in their academic pursuit and performance (Zhao, et al., 2005: 210).
), and that the need for cognitive consistency often provokes behavior and that if the cognitive aspects (information, ideas or perceptions, for example) collide and contradict each other, the individual will feel uncomfortable, as the human nature tends to match the acquired knowledge with his cognitive and academic structure.
(Alshammari, 2018; 397-398), and to identify the correlation between the possible self and cognitive consistency, a sample of 377 students at the University of Babylon was randomly taken.
The researchers adopted the academic immersion scale and the cognitive consistency scale, and the study concluded that there is a relationship A moderate direct correlation between academic immersion and academic consistency.
The researchers recommended removing the barriers and obstacles that prevent access to academic immersion.
