The current research aims at defining the effect of hands on mind on achievement for fifth primary class pupils in science.
Researcher adopted experimental method due to its appropriateness.
To achieve research goals, the researcher put one null hypotheses to the test.
The sample was 22 fifth graders id Dar Al-Maarifa private primary school in Al-Mohandseen quarter/left bank in Mosul city/ Nineveh governorate in the academic year 2020-2021.
Researcher used experimental generalization with two control pre-posttests.
Experimental group was division A with 11 pupils studied science using hands on mind strategy.
Control group was division B with 11 pupils studied science using traditional method.
Researcher equalized both groups in the following variables :(time age measured in months, academic achievement of parents, science degree in fourth primary class, general average of fourth primary class).
Researcher made (26) teaching plans with (13) plans for both groups.
The researcher made one tools (25) items achievement.
Experiment lasted (44) days from (22/2/2020) until (17/3/2020) twice a week, two lessons per day.
Researcher used the following statistical means: Item difficulty formula, item discrimination formula, efficiency of wrong alternatives formula, Kudor- Richardson 20 formula, Man -Whitney test, Kai square test.
Researcher concluded the following: Statistically significant differences between both groups (experimental and control) in achievement test in favor of experimental.
Given these results, the researcher made a number of recommendation and suggestions.
The prominent recommendation: collaboration of state administrate of education in Nineveh governorate / preparation and training unit with university of Mosul so that university teachers specialized in methodologies train teachers of private primary schools how to use active teaching strategies (i.e., Hands on mind strategy) and show its importance in teaching process.
One of the most important suggestions: initiate a study regarding the use of two strategies (hands on mind and snow ball) on developing scientific concepts and trends towards science for primary class pupils.
