The study focuses on the representation of women in the National People's Assembly (Lower Chamber of Parliament) in the 2017 elections, which came after the constitutional reform of 2016, which expanded the powers of women in the elected councils, while expanding the principle of separation of powers.

Algeria is the first in the Arab and 29 global level, in terms of women's representation in parliament, out of a total of 462 deputies in the legislative elections 2017 women won 120 seats, equivalent to 26 percent.
