Abstract EN

This study dealt with cogency and its role in supporting the truth in the light of the Holy Qur’an.

It started with defining the concept of cogency and the terms associated with it, stating its importance in supporting the truth.

The descriptive inductive method was used in this study.

The major findings reveal that cogency is seen as fundamental evidence that a person should be equipped with to support his faith and to argue against an opponent’s beliefs, and that the Qur’an’s emphasis on the question of cogency and the multiplicity of its terms is clear evidence of its impact and the importance of possessing it, and that weakness of the argument is one of the motives leading to committing crimes
