Abstract EN

This research is intended to study models of tracing of sources of Hadith by Ibn Al-Mawāq (d.

642 AH) as cited in his book entitled “Buġyat al-Nuqqād”.

This will be achieved through collecting his traces of earlier scholars with regard to rulings related to narrators of Ḥadīṯ and examining them critically.

The importance of this study lies in reaching to an exact saying in many issues in which the scholars’ opinions differed.

The inductive approach was adopted in collecting Ibn Al-Mawāq’s traces and categorizing them according to type, and then the analytical and critical approaches were used in identifying and studying them analytically and critically to reveal their validity.

The study reached a number of findings.

The most interesting finding is recognizing scholars’ methods in dealing with the opinions of their predecessors and unraveling the methodological differences between Ibn Al-Mawāq and his sheikh Ibn al-Qaṭṭān and balancing between them
