Abstract EN

The current study aimed at identifying the role of the political discourse of his majesty king Abdullah II in international forums in staving terrorism off Islam during the period from 2001 to 2018.

the researched used content analysis and critical analysis methods to analyze a number of political speeches delivered by his majesty in international forums.

purposive sampling was applied in selecting the sample of (24) political disclosures.

the study ended up with a set of findings, most important of which is that the political speeches delivered by his majesty king Abdullah II plays a positive role in defending Islam and illustrating its image as a religion of moderation that rejects terrorism in its comprehensive meanings, thus giving the king’s disclosures a special advantage at the Arab and international levels alike.

this is confirmed by awarding his majesty the Templeton prize for 2018 in recognition of his efforts in achieving interfaith harmony and cooperation, addressing the risks of terrorism and correcting misconceptions about Islam, making his majesty the first Muslim Arab to receive the prize.
