For decades, the jurisprudence has contributed to the development of the concepts and mechanisms of the criminal law policy in dealing with crime and criminals, and there is no doubt that the criminal legal system in its current form is only a reflection of those visions and perceptions developed by criminal jurisprudence to control the criminal phenomenon and criminal policy has been affected by the different jurisprudencial currents that have succeeded over the time, starting with the classical current, passing by the positivist current, and ending with the social current that still characterizes contemporary criminal policy.
