Abstract EN

The Algerian thinker Malik Ben Nabi (1905-1973) and the English historian and philosopher Arnold Toynbee (1889-1975)studied and researched the subject of civilization, and each had its own concepts and theory.

There is no doubt that both of them took a course during the study and gave an intellectual dimension.

It is noticeable that there was a similarity between the two types of study of civilizations in terms of their progress in one line and their passage in the same stages (evolution, development and decay).

Malik bin Nabi, however, took an analytical approach.

Toynbee followed a historical approach.

Consequently, the results of their studies were different, interspersed with some similarities and points of difference frequently, with each of their personalities remaining prominent throughout it.
