Abstract EN

The importance of fertility study and following up on the changes that have occurred in societies, not only because it is the main element in population growth, but also for its well-known reciprocal relations with socio-economic variables.The importance of the study was the use of direct and indirect methods for calculating Age Specific Fertility Rate (ASFR).The study aimed to find out the ASFRs using direct and indirect methods using the Brass method and compare between them.

The hypotheses of the study were that, there is no significant statistical differences between the direct and indirect methods to calculate ASFR.

The study depended on inference statistical method, using Health Survey - Sudan-2014.

The study reached a number of results, the moS important of which are, there are discrepancies and differences when calculating ASFRs and TFR using direct and indirect method in all the states of Sudan and the degrees of variance and difference vary from state to state.
