The research aimed to identify the degree to which the thesis supervisors perform their roles from the postgraduate students' perspectives at the Islamic University of Madinah, and to find out the differences between the sample members of the degree to which their supervisors perform their roles according to the researcher's variables (educational stage, academic specialization, student's language), and according to the supervisor's variables (supervisor's degree, administrative position).
The research used the descriptive survey approach, using the questionnaire as a tool to collect data.
The research sample consisted of (309) postgraduate students at the Islamic University of Madinah.
The research indicated that: the thesis supervisors at the Islamic University of Madinah perform their roles from the their students' perspectives with a "medium" degree, and there were statistically significant differences in the sample responses about their supervisors performing their roles: according to the educational stage in favor of doctoral students, according to the student's language in favor of Arabic speaking students, according to the supervisor’s holding of an administrative position in favor of who occupy administrative positions.
The research recommended that supervisory roles should be included in the training courses provided to faculty teaching staff at the Islamic University of Madinah.
The research also suggested conducting other research in the field, such as examining the requirements for the formation of scientific researcher in light of contemporary international standards for university classification.
