Abstract EN

In ancient Egyptian Thought, deities participate in the process of inflicting harm on humans with regard to worldly life, and afflicting various diseases.

This research paper deals with the negative influences of deities on individuals, in the fields of medicine, magic and disease.

Where the ancient Egyptian sources of magic and medicine have shown the emergence of negative influences of some deities in various areas of abuse and damage, affecting livings in the form of several diseases, the ancient Egyptian believed that their occurrence due to the bad influence of some deities, and among these diseases, or rather, the common deformities and malformations according to the thought of the ancient Egyptians, blindness, lameness, stupor, deafness, sciatica and paraplegia.

Thus they distinguish between two types of diseases: one can be explained in a scientific way and its physical causes, and this includes many diseases such as fractures, burns, and others.

The other type is diseases with unknown or mysterious causes that are brought about by the negative influence of deities such as epilepsy, possession, the ancient Egyptians have thought that humans are vulnerable to the harmful influences of deities, which are often difficult to follow, as in their customs they flow through the air, as well as infiltrate at night and enter the body by several means, including water, air and food.
