Abstract EN

Climate elements are the most important factors affecting the comfort of the population and their tourism movements.

This study highlighting on the role of climate in assessing the seasons of rest, in the city of Abha which is located in mountains region, and the city of Jazan which in located in the Tihama Plain.

The study used climatic data for the period from 2019-1988, to achieve tourist comfort.

The study used some statistical methods such as comfort and discomfort index which represented by the Gaffney coefficient, Thom indexed thermal discomfort, as well as the equivalent temperature index for wind cooling, which developed by Siple and Passel in order to determine the comfort of night and shade.

The study reached conclusions that show the effect of climatic seasonality on tourism demand and supply in both cities.

Finally, some recommendations were drawn up with aim of employing climatic factors in tourism development.
