Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the role of the government in supporting and protecting workers in the hospitality sector and its impact on their intentions to continue working during and after the Corona pandemic crisis.

The study focused on the layoffs that workers were exposed to and how the government faced this issue.

A total of 201 questionnaires were distributed to workers in the hospitality sector.

The most important results were that many workers were laid off during crises, and many of them changed their careers.

Personal interviews were conducted with managers of labor offices in several governorates.

The results showed the government's keenness since the beginning of the Corona crisis to protect the rights of workers in the hospitality sector and to take the necessary measures to protect workers and provide health and occupational safety requirements within the workplace.

The study recommended a package of measures that protect the rights of workers during crises, such as establishing a fund for workers in the hospitality and tourism sector, providing health and social care for workers, establishing a hotline for workers in the hospitality sector to receive their problems and solving them immediately, and setting penalties for cases of arbitrary dismissal of workers during crises.
