Abstract EN

The study aimed at estimating the relationship between the public expenditure on education and economic growth in Sudan during the period from 2000–2009.

The importance of this study is to insure the role of public expenditure on education to improve the economic growth.

The study sets three hypotheses which are; there is significant, statistical and positive relationship between the public expenditure on education and economic growth, testing the reasoned relation from the public expenditure on education to economic growth, and also testing the reasoned relation from the economic growth to public expenditure on education.

The study used the quantitative econometric analytical approach; by Ordinary Least Squares method to estimate the relation between the public expenditure on education and economic growth.

Also, it used the Granger test to determine the direction of the reasoned relation between the variables.

The study reached to findings which are summarized in positive and significant relationship between the public expenditure on education and economic growth.

And the effect of public expenditure on education is double on economic growth.

And There is reasoned relation with one direction from the public expenditure on education to economic growth that means the public expenditure on education affect the economic growth.

Also the study reached to finding which there isn’t reasoned relation from the economic growth to the public expenditure on education.

The study recommended that are; the government ought to increase the public expenditure on education to raise the economic growth, then to achieve the economic and social development, and concerned with the public education quantitatively and qualitatively.
