Abstract EN

This study deals with the possibility of using GIS in analyzing the reality of the drinking water and sewage network in Khartoum state.

The problem of this study is the lack of descriptive and spatial information for the water in Sudan, and the lack of an integrated planning for the water network in Sudan.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the reality of the water networks in Khartoum state to support decision makers, researchers and those interested in developing the water infrastructure in the state.

The geospatial technology methodology was applied in this study.

Several results were reached, which are as follows: The reality of drinking water in the localities of Khartoum State was analyzed, where maps were designed for the geographical distribution of the number of drinking water networks lines, maps of the geographical distribution of the lengths of drinking water networks, and maps of the geographical distribution of the number of wells in each locality of the state, and despite this, there is an urgent need for urgent administrative follow-up to the maintenance and development operations.

The reality of the sewage networks in Khartoum state was analyzed, where the results showed that there are no sewage networks in the state except for the sewage network in the Khartoum North Administrative Unit, in the locality of Khartoum, which is not complete and insufficient even for the administrative unit, therefore, the state needs an integrated sewage network.

A geospatial database has been built for the water networks in Khartoum state, which can be linked when the planning of the required water networks design is completed.

A web application has been configured via Google network to manage the water networks information in the state.

The future studies were represented in the smart application for urban water management “GeoSmart City: water system”.
