Summary: The participatory approach is an emerging method of management adopted by many countries of the world.

It is based on the principle of involving the citizen in the process of running his public affairs, after the representative approach proved its shortcomings and limitations in expressing the reality of individuals and their aspirations.

Through this research paper, we seek to present the participatory approach as a complement to the representative approach and not as a substitute for it, as it is based on many of its principles, the most important of which is the adoption of freedom of expression and freedom of choice, and we focus in our research on the local space as the best spaces capable of practicing and activating the participatory approach as it is the closest to the citizen and Thus, the possibility of benefiting from it to achieve economic and social development.
