Social networks have brought about a huge revolution in the world of communications, and they depend mainly on the Internet, and social networking sites consist of a number of applications, but the most famous sites are: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, and other communication sites that differ in the way Some of them depend on writing posts and publishing them to friends or the public, some of them relying on posting photos and some of them posting videos and photos, and there are sites that combine all of these techniques in one application, and many social media allow direct broadcasting by users.

Today, social networking sites of all kinds play an important and influential role in developing and strengthening political awareness among the public in general, and among university students in particular, especially with the rapid events taking place in the Iraqi arena, especially in the political aspect.

The general understanding of the political climate and what drives it in terms of the interactions and plans of political actors within the state or even outside it; Because of the global interdependence of events, the concept of political awareness relates to individuals, organizations and societies alike, in addition to the consolidation of political awareness, which means forming a kind of conscious thinking about the political present and the required movement in the local, regional or international sphere and all popular political behavior such as: elections, Running for elections, holding demonstrations and revolutions, which increase with the increase of the so-called political awareness, so this awareness is the beating heart of the living components of political entities.

Accordingly, this research will focus on knowing the role played by social networking sites in the process of enhancing political awareness among Diyala University students, as well as knowing the most important sites that had the greatest role in promoting political awareness among Diyala University students.
