Abstract EN

This paper aims to address the motivations of Russia's interest in Ukraine by examining Russia's expansionist steps to maximize its geopolitical gains.

Where has there been a marked change in its foreign policy towards its regional neighbourhood.

Where were their efforts to regain influence in former Soviet states, such as Ukraine, which had demonstrated its western ambition and determination to join NATO.

This indicates its desire to strengthen its presence and presence in various vital fields near and far on the basis of employing geopolitics to redraw its vital field according to what is included in the new Eurasian project.

Accordingly, the study aims to know the geopolitical importance of Ukraine in Russian geopolitical thought based on the history of relations between the two countries and the nature of the Atlantic-Eurasian conflict over Ukraine.
