Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to shed light on the problem of forced migration coming to Yemen from its various aspects, by identifying the immigrants ’trends and their characteristics.

To reveal the times of their flow, and to identify the most prominent problems and challenges that this phenomenon creates in Yemeni society in general, in order to reach results that can contribute to addressing the phenomenon and reducing its negative effects.

The study showed that the continued migration of the Africans to Yemen during the past three decades has made the situation open to the influx of immigrants, since the outbreak of the war in Somalia and Abyssinia in the early 1990s, and continued up to this day, and has become a normal matter, which created a number of challenges such as social and security concerns, insufficiency of help from international donors to cope with the influx of these migrations, and the absence of commitments by the relevant authorities, such as UNHCR.

Therefore, leaving this situation without a solution will increase the suffering of the immigrants and the Yemenis and those immigrant will stay in Yemen for a long time making them among minorities in Yemeni society.

The study recommended the necessity of activating and strengthening the role of the UNHCR and donors in helping these migrants and refugees solve their problems and return to their lives in their countries of origin and intensify the coordination process between UNHCR and the Yemeni authorities in creating camps that accommodate these refugees and migrants, and providing them with the necessary life supplies
