Algerian popular poetry is considered to be one of the popular literary arts widely distributed in Algerian culture.

Through it, the poets expressed their hopes and their sorrows, their aspirations and dreams, their customs and traditions, their beliefs and their philosophy of life, as well as the events they experienced during wars and revolutions, especially during the French occupation of Algeria.

The researchers raised a lot of controversy over the question of the term that was given to this type of poetry, as they focused on determining the date of its creation, determining the historical, political and social conditions that contributed to its emergence in Algeria.
